Rider Courses - Basic

Basic Rider Course:
The BRC was developed by the Motorcycle safety Foundation as a complete riding program for the beginning rider. The program consists of seven hours of classroom instruction and eleven hours of hands-on riding instruction all taught by MSF certified instructors. The two-and-a-half day, 18 hour course provides beginning motorcyclists with the basic mental and physical riding skills necessary to minimize risk on the street. Topics covered include: straight line riding, shifting, braking, turning and swerving techniques as well as motorcycle dynamics.

The BRC has been approved by New York State's Department of Motor Vehicles as an option to the motorcycle road test. Students 16 years of age and older who possess both a valid New York State driver's license and a Motorcycle Learner's Permit and who successfully complete the BRC will receive their motorcycle endorsement without having to take the New York State on-street Motorcycle road test. In addition, the BRC has been approved for Point/Insurance Reduction Program benefits. You will receive a 10% reduction on the liability portions of your car and motorcycle insurance premiums and up to 4 points will be deducted from your driving record.

TRAMA'S MOTORCYCLE AND AUTO SCHOOL, INC. provides motorcycles, helmets and eye protection and course materials. Students must provide their own riding gear: over the ankle boots, jacket, long pants and full fingered gloves. Students may supply their own helmet and eye protection so long as they meet D.O.T. standards.

The BRC is both mentally and physically demanding. Please be sure that your calendar is clear, you are well rested and free of distractions during your course. Perfect attendance and proper riding gear are mandatory. Failure to attend any training session (classroom or riding) or to have proper riding gear as outlined above will result in dismissal from the course and the cancellation policy will apply.
